"Paris Peace Conference" Excerpt
Inspired by reading done for a history class from the book Paris 1919: Six Months That Changed the World.

Paris was not the place for this meeting
“It shouldn’t be in a belligerent capital,”
Said LG, the Welsh Wizard.
French Foreign Ministry calls all
With any claim to victory
To come to Paris
Calling as Emma Lazarus
Did in Lady Liberty’s name.

But really, the call was useless
Oh, you can come plead your case
But ultimately, these three decide.
Lloyd George, the Welsh Wizard,
With the Empire to protect.
Woodrow Wilson, the American idealist
Fourteen Points and great ideas in tow
And the Frenchman, Clemenceau,
Who hates them both
And believes he’s between
Napoleon and Jesus.
